Hi, I'm Jemma, the designer and maker
behind Hazel and Hope.
I live and work from my home studio in Hambledon in Hampshire, UK and I'm surrounded by the countryside,
my vegetable garden and my chickens. I'm an
ex-city girl turned country mouse
and I couldn't be happier!
My journey to Hazel and Hope has been a slow one. I studied Fine Arts and have always worked in the arts, but until recently I'd been working in a way that felt too fast-paced, too intense, and I realised I needed something slower. Something more me.
A really important part of my slow making process is the materials I use. I choose to work with the loveliest of natural fibres - silk, linen, wool and plant extracts.
In fact, the wool I use comes from a gorgeous little flock of sheep farmed by my neighbour Ella. Unfortunately, not all my materials can come from my neighbours, but I source as much as I can from sustainable and ethical suppliers.
The materials I choose result in pieces that feel special and are a joy to use and own.
